Available Services

Injury Evaluation Session
We will complete a full health history, evaluation of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, and a full body movement screening in order to provide the best treatment plan to return you to the activities you love as quickly and safely as possible. During this session we will discuss your goals for returning to sport as well as athlete development, future injury prevention and strength training.
Injury Rehabilitation Session
Injuries are an inherent risk within athletics. Our goal is to return you to your sport or activity as quickly and safely as possible. Using our evaluation of the injury and your full body movement screening, our certified athletic trainers will work to decrease pain as well as improve mobility and strength to ensure a timely return.
Strength & Conditioning Session
Athlete development is an absolute necessity when it comes to improving sports performance. Our NSCA certified strength and conditioning coach will help you set performance goals, optimize body movement mechanics, and efficiently manage progress to get you to that next level and beyond.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a treatment modality used to decrease pain, improve range of motion and overall promote healing through local, segmental, and systemic effects. Our certified athletic trainers use small, monofilament needles to disrupt muscle tension and trigger point activity to assist in creating the optimal environment for your body to heal and return to activity.
Normatec Recovery Session
Normatec compression therapy is a recovery modality designed to greatly improve recovery time and keep you performing at your highest level. The Normatec compression boots help move the extra fluid in the legs from heavy training sessions or competition back up through the circulatory system to be redistributed throughout the body and allowing fresh blood, oxygen and other nutrients to facilitate healing in your muscles.
Mobility Treatment Session
Our mobility sessions are designed to reduce pain, improve range of motion, and promote injury prevention. These sessions will typically involve cupping, soft-tissue mobilization, myofascial release, and/or stretching.
Event Medical Coverage
The ATR values the health and safety of all athletes. We provide certified athletic trainers at sporting events all over the state of Iowa. Athletic trainers are specifically trained to; assess acute orthopedic injury and determine participation status, handle cardiac and respiratory emergencies, evaluate concussions and critical head and neck injuries, and work with event planners to develop emergency actions plans. We strive to keep athletes safe and healthy while they perform the activities that they love.

Walk-ins are welcome, or call 515-964-5000 to schedule an appointment.

Athlete Development

This program is designed on an individual basis to increase speed and agility, improve balance and proprioception, and decrease injury risk. Each athlete is assessed individually with a Fusionetics functional movement screen. The athletic trainer will take the results from the movement screen, and incorporate sport-specific drills and strengthening to encourage athletic development.

Concussions
A concussion is an injury to the brain caused by rapid movement of the brain against the internal wall of the skull. This can be caused by a direct blow to the head: by a ball, the ground, or another athlete. Or by a hit to the body, which causes rapid movement of the head and neck. Each concussion is unique and needs to be treated on an individual basis. Please follow the link below for more information on signs/symptoms, when additional medical care is needed, and how to handle a concussed athlete at home. Link to Concussion Home Care If you suspect that your son or daughter has a concussion, have them evaluated by a provider who specializes in concussion evaluation and management. Call us at 515-964-5000 to be evaluated and for an individualized plan to return your son or daughter back to participation.
Injury Prevention
The best way to keep an athlete on the field is to prevent the injury from occurring. One of the best tools to determine what is needed to prevent injury is to be tested using a Functional Movement Screen. A series of movement patterns are used to identify compensations that an athlete makes when performing these movements. Those compensations are evaluated and a program is designed for each individual athlete to correct muscular and structural imbalances, relax tight muscles, strengthen underused muscles, and improve muscular efficiency – thus, reducing injury risk. Call 515-964-5000 to schedule a 30 minute consult and Functional Movement Screen. We will provide you with individualized information to increase athletic performance and reduce injury risk.
